October 5, 2022Boots For Troops Donation Collection

The heart of our credit union is giving back and actively working to reinvest in the communities we serve. That’s why during the entire month of November, PEFCU is partnering with Boots for Troops to host a donation drive for the brave men and women in our military.  

While deployed overseas, Boots for Troops founder Jimmy Rogers often witnessed his shipmates return to their camp with no packages waiting for them. If they did receive a package, it was typically mass-produced and full of items the service members didn’t want or need. This gave Jimmy the incredible and heartwarming idea for Boots for Troops. With a lot of dedication and help from his wife, Lindsey, the non-profit organization Boots for Troops was established in 2015.  

By carefully curating care packages based on the needs of each recipient, Boots for Troops makes sure every soldier will have the opportunity to open a personalized care package and see just how much they are loved, missed, and appreciated back home. These care packages include some of the service members’ favorite snacks, such as beef jerky, chips, and coffee; hygienic products, such as deodorant, body wash, and feminine products for women; and things to pass the time, such as books, word searches, and card games. In addition, each package comes with a pair of new boots, hence the name, Boots for Troops! In times of struggle, when our soldiers feel their lowest, these care packages give them moments of strength, hope, and encouragement.  

Each of our PEFCU branches will have a donation box in their lobby from Tuesday, November 1, through Wednesday, November 30.
